Winter Waterfowl Assignment Winner Linda Gillespie

Congratulations to Linda Gillespie for winning the recent Winter Waterfowl Assignment with the image, “Lord of the Dance.”

“I live in Michigan, so when I saw Outdoor Photographer’s assignment for Winter Waterfowl, I knew it was time to see what I could do,’ explains Gillespie. “I live near the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, located 12 miles northeast of Battle Creek, Michigan. I loaded up my gear and headed out on one of our few sunny days. The lake was frozen over, but pumps operated by the sanctuary keep small areas of water open so all the water birds have access to open water. My photo ‘Lord of the Dance’ shows one of last summer’s cygnets strutting his stuff.”

Nikon D500, Sigma 150-600mm lens at 440mm, ISO 400, 1/800 sec., f/6.
